The New Hampshire Frameworks for the Arts and New Hampshire Teachers

The New Hampshire Curriculum Framework for the Arts is a voluntary document, not mandated by state law, providing teachers, administrators, school boards, and parents with clear goals for a quality arts education in New Hampshire. The framework designates arts proficiency standards at the end of grades four, eight, and twelve, aligned with the National Standards for Arts Education.

According to Marcia McCaffrey, Arts Consultant with the Office of Arts Education, NH Department of Education, "professional development around outcome-based education and curriculum, instruction and assessment, remain a priority for assuring quality programs. Through continuing education, teachers will be able to apply the standards to curriculum development, classroom or district assessment, and new reporting systems. They will be able to use the framework to promote their programs and encourage fellow educators to embrace the power of the arts for student learning in all content areas. Demands for accountability and assessment are upon us. The framework will be our rock of support under these new challenges."
